BCMC SOCIAL EVENT -  April 14th, 2026

‘Extreme Sightseeing on Baffin Island': A Ski Traverse Among Some of the World’s Greatest Rock Walls by Manrico Scremin

Manrico Scremin, his wife Liz, and three friends did a three-week, 135 km ski traverse on the remote east coast of Baffin Island in Canada’s Nunavut territory. Their meandering route took them past some of the greatest rock walls in the world. Many of those spires and walls make the Grand Wall on the Stawamus Chief look like a little neighbourhood crag.
The Clyde River area on Baffin Island attracts climbers, base jumpers, and steep couloir skiers from around the world. Manrico and Liz have done numerous ski, backpack, and canoe trips in the arctic including three trips on Baffin Island and two trips on Ellesmere Island which is the world’s second most northerly island after Greenland.

One of the peaks to be shown in this presentation has a physical feature which is a world record. Come to the presentation to see which peak and what record!

Location: The Anza Club, #3, West 8th Ave., Vancouver | 19+ | Doors Open: 7:00 PM, Event Starts: 7.30 PM
